There is a quiet confidence to a dish like foil-wrapped lemon garlic salmon that comes from knowing every element has a purpose. This is not just another variation on a familiar idea. It is a well balanced plate where 2 lb salmon fillet, kosher salt come together in a way that feels both comforting and intentional, the kind of meal that makes a regular weeknight feel a little more cared for. Whether you are cooking for family, hosting friends, or simply treating yourself to something made with attention, this recipe rewards you with layers of flavor that belie how approachable it really is.

You will want to pay attention to two small details that make a big difference here. First, Let your oven fully preheat and position the rack in the center. An accurate temperature matters more than the timer, so trust visual cues like bubbling edges and golden tops over the clock alone. Second, Season in layers rather than all at once. A pinch when you add the aromatics, another when the main ingredients go in, and a final adjustment at the end builds depth that one big addition at the start cannot match. These are not fussy chef tricks. They are the practical habits that separate a good version of this dish from a great one, and once you do them a few times they become second nature.

Serve it as written the first time, then make it yours. Swap the herbs for what you have, add a handful of greens at the end, or turn up the heat with a pinch of chili flakes. The base technique stays the same while the flavors shift to match your pantry. If this is your first time with foil-wrapped lemon garlic salmon, this salmon dish features a quick, mix-together garlic-lemon blend enhanced with oregano and paprika for vibrant taste a that the process is forgiving and the results are consistently satisfying. It is the kind of recipe that earns a permanent spot in your rotation, not because it is complicated, but because it is reliably delicious and adaptable to what you have on hand.

    Instructions

      Get Ready

      1. Position one oven rack in the center and one rack about 6 inches from the broiler. Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF. Line a sheet pan longways with a large piece of foil, large enough to fold over the salmon. Brush the foil with extra virgin olive oil.

      Make the Lemon-Garlic Sauce

      1. Zest one of the lemons into a small bowl or measuring cup, then add the juice from both lemons. Add the extra virgin olive oil, garlic, oregano, paprika, and black pepper and whisk to combine.

      Prepare the Salmon

      1. Pat the salmon dry and season well on both sides with salt. Place it on the foil, skin side down. Carefully pour the lemon garlic sauce on top, bending the foil upwards around the fish to contain the liquid. Use a spoon or a pastry brush to spread the sauce evenly across the surface of the fish. Slice half of the remaining lemon into rounds and the other half into wedges, and place the rounds on top of the salmon.
      2. Fold the loose end of the foil up and over the salmon, tenting it high enough so there's an air pocket between the foil and the lemons on top of the salmon. Crimp the foil closed at the top and sides to encase the fish and trap the steam. If you didn't leave quite a long enough piece of foil, simply tear off another sheet and crimp the two together.

      Bake the Salmon

      1. Bake in the hot oven until the salmon is almost cooked through at the thickest part, 15 to 20 minutes.

      Broil the Salmon

      1. Carefully remove the pan from the oven and open the foil, folding it out to reveal the top of the salmon. Turn your broiler to high and place the salmon under the broiler briefly, until the top is lightly browned and the salmon is cooked through, about 3 minutes. Watch closely as it broils to make sure it doesn't overcook and the lemons and garlic do not burn. Remove the salmon from the oven.

      Serve

      1. Sprinkle the salmon with the parsley and serve with the lemon wedges on the side.
